" The Department of Electrical Engineering, Kashmir Government polytechnic Srinagar a premier institute is imparting Technical education to the students since its establishment in 1958. Being the HOD of Electrical Engineering Department, it gives me immense pleasure to lead the department and being an integral part of its accomplishments. To meet the growing demand of Electrical Engineers in the Government and private sectors, the department is striving hard towards the goal of producing highly trained and capable Electrical engineers by providing innovative and quality technical education. The objectives of the department are to maintain high academic standards and to give due weightage to practical work. The students are exposed to industrial environment through industrial visits and training.

The department has highly qualified, young and dynamic personalities as faculty, who are involved in imparting quality education .They attend refreshers courses, workshops and webinar so as to keep themselves abreast with the latest in the field of Electrical Engineering and what new teaching methods do they need to incorporate for betterment of students.

The lab facilities are available in the field of Basic Electrical Engineering, Electrical Machines, Electrical measurement, Electrical Workshop and same are upgraded from time to time to provide adequate opportunities for students to learn and innovate.

In addition to 3 year diploma in Electrical Engineering, the Department is also conducting short term courses in Domestic Wiring , Transformer fabrication and Motor winding . ".
